Is Obama’s energy eNeRgY?
I’m reasonably certain report cards and such should probably not be handed out in, oh I don’t know less than two weeks of a new President’s administration, BUT….let’s face it, this Country is looking for eNeRgY from it’s newest President, Barack Obama. Are we getting it?
In a word, yes.
The President has again ran political circles around what seemingly isn’t just a Bush ignorant party, but a GOP that still is getting played like a proverbial fiddle. This guy reaches out to Congressional Republicans (to the chagrin and dismay of fellow Democrats) and gets a gooseegg for his troubles. Nary a one Republican voted for a watered down (in the sense of watered down for Republicans) stimulus bill introduced to the House. Not one. 4 years earlier, quite flippantly, George Bush touted the “I just won a hotly contested election and I’m gonna spend my political capital” mantra loud and proud, though his was amongst the narrowest of wins in a harshly divided country that still has deep cuts from those two elections.
Obama obliterates McPalin, and the 2006 elections also sent the GOP packing from Washington, much more often than to Washington. Amidst this backdrop, Obama actually reaches across the proverbial aisle to try to solicit some Republican support, and got a zero. Even energy does not correctly paint the picture of the GOP here. Comatose and energy are incompatible, and eNeRgY isn’t even in the equation.
Democrats too are upset with the President. Apparently they too forget that the Republicans controlled Congress and the Presidency for 6 of the past 8 years. (though you’d think their short term memory was better). That alone doesn’t mean much. It certainly doesn’t mean we (the American people win). The whole gridlock argument may have eNeRgY. Democrats are whining and bellyaching that we need to seize the moment and impose our will on the GOP. I’m not certain these stalwarts are any better than the misguided Republicans across the aisle from them.
Obama has it right for the long term and he knows it. Why are most of the career politicians in Washington (on both sides) missing it? He’s not playing for 100 days, or until midterms or even for one Presidential term. This guy is laying the foundation for 8 years, and while his plan seems to be working gloriously, all those on both sides of the aisle seem stuck in yesterday’s politics and mindset. They both are missing it.
So yes, in the early analysis I believe Obama is one of few in Washington DC these days giving us the eNeRgY we in the very vast majority had hoped he would. I wish the others would catch a similar wave.
